WINGS Program Update

September 23, 2020

We regret to inform you that we will not be able to offer the WINGS program for the 2020-21 school year.  Holmes County was at the end of our 5 year grant period, and the application for renewal was not funded.  This year, less than 30% of the renewal applications received were awarded funding by the Florida Department of Education.  We have been blessed to have this program for a long time, and we are very disappointed that we will not be able to offer this opportunity for our students.  We plan to apply for the grant again in May and hope to be able to offer WINGS again in the 2021-22 school year.
Due to the change in the track and speed of Hurricane Sally, Holmes County Schools will be CLOSED on Wednesday and Thursday, September 16 & 17.  School will dismiss at normal time today, but all after-school activities have been cancelled.    Buses will run on paved roads only this afternoon.  Please continue to monitor weather conditions and take the necessary precautions to keep your family safe!
Florida Heiken will be providing free vision services to our students the week of September 14-18, 2020.  More information is available by clicked the Related Files links below.  Parents are urged to complete the application online this year.
There will be a special session of the Holmes District School Board on Friday, August 14 for the purpose of discussing the school reopening date.
