Holmes County School District has submitted an intent to apply for the 21st cclc grant for the 20-21 academic year/summer.

WINGS Summer Virtual Program 2020

The WINGS 21st CCLC virtual summer program will begin on June 8th and continue through July 16th. Registration forms will be available on Monday, June 1st and Wednesday, June 3rd at each WINGS site from 9:00-2:00. The registration area will be separate, but near the meal pick up line.  If you need a form emailed to you, please email the coordinator at your child’s school. Daily lessons will be provided for the students and supplies for the week will be passed out on Mondays starting June 8th.  The program site has activities scheduled for Monday through Thursday beginning at 8:30am each day. Follow along with the schedule or do the activities at your own pace.

This is a virtual program, so you will need access to the internet and a device to use. Enrollment will be limited to 25 students in grades K-8 at PS, BHS and PDLE and 50 at BK8. Current WINGS students will be given first priority and then it will be on a first come basis until all slots are filled.  We are excited about this opportunity and look forward to serving our families.

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) initiative is a key component of the No Child Left Behind Act. Authorized under Title IV, Part B, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, the specific purposes of the federal law are to:

  • Provide opportunities for academic enrichment, including providing tutorial services to help students, particularly students who attend low-performing schools, to meet state and local student academic achievement standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and mathematics.
  • Offer students a broad array of additional services, programs, and activities, such as youth development activities, drug and violence prevention programs, counseling programs, art, music, and recreation programs, technology education programs and character education programs, that are designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program of participating students.
  • Offer families of students served by community learning centers opportunities for literacy and related educational development.

These services are offered at no cost to the students and their families.
